Ethical principles and standards provide practitioners of all “helping” professionals important guideposts for professional practice to ensure people receive high quality and effective services.

The current mental health crisis has stressed our system of care, inevitably presenting providers with ethical dilemmas as people in need wait for services. As a result, ethical principles and standards can conflict with each other, leaving the practitioner to ponder how to provide ethical services to an ever growing populus.

This 6 hour, six CEU on-demand workshop will provide an overview of the guiding principles and ethical standards for mental health professionals in the context of the current mental health crisis.

By the end of the workshop, participants who engaged in all activities will:

  • Increase their familiarity with the guiding principles and ethical standards for mental health providers
  • Explore ethical decision making models
  • Apply these processes to complex issues that present practitioners
  • Review the importance of professional boundaries, boundary extensions and violations, the prevention of each, and what to do if you believe boundaries have been violated.
  • Explore the role of self-care, consultation, and supervision in promoting the provision of ethical care

*Social Work or Allied Mental Health Professional attendees can receive six CEU credits upon successful completion of the quiz*
