Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, client-centered counseling approach designed to enhance motivation and commitment to positive change. Widely used in mental health settings, MI helps practitioners build stronger therapeutic relationships, improve client engagement, and achieve better treatment outcomes.

This interactive, three hour, on-demand workshop will cover:

  • Overview of MI principles and techniques
  • Understanding the spirit of MI – collaboration, evocation, and autonomy
  • Eliciting and exploring client motivations
  • Collaborative goal setting for behavior change
  • Resolving resistance in a client’s motivation for change

By the end of the workshop, participants who engage in all activities should be able to:

  • Enhance client engagement and collaboration
  • Foster intrinsic motivation for positive change
  • Improve outcomes in the treatment of various mental health conditions
